Revenue is Vanity, Profit is Sanity, but Cash is King

I spent a big chunk of my career, early on as an individual sales contributor and then as a sales leader, chasing revenue. Revenue was the goal, revenue was everything, especially in startups pursuing (and reaching) IPOs.

It wasn't until I became a CEO that I fully appreciated the need for profits and cash to run a successful business. Now, as a coach focused on Go-to-Market strategy and execution, I work with my clients to grow revenue while also focusing on developing sustainable profit growth. And, strong profits throw off the cash you want and need to continue to invest in the business, and to meet your personal goals as well.

Do you and your business have the right priorities, in the right order? To give you a look at how you can start getting it right, here's a link to my revenue and profit simulator. Play with it and have some fun plotting out strong profit acceleration for your sanity!
